Jeffrey Hatcher, Conservation Chair

I started canoeing as a young boy with my parents, taking some summer trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. I started to dabble in whitewater canoeing in a 17 foot Grumman on the Big South Fork when I was in medical school. My wife and I later wrapped this boat in a strainer on a local run. With a lot of instruction, I started paddling a whitewater kayak in 2002.

I have been a CCC member for the last 5 years and have been the conservation chair for the last year. I am a member of several other groups in the state, in adjacent states as well as nationally that I believe have helped me to be aware of issues that affect the health of our waters as well as our environment. I have worked over the past year to help CCC members get involved in cleanups throughout the state. As well, I have tried to represent the CCC on environmental issues in NC, the surrounding states as well as nationally.

It has been my pleasure to be involved in this effort. I hope that I can continue to work for the CCC and it's members.
